A glaring omission from the video is the throngs of Western sex tourists and pedophiles who fuel the sex trade in Cambodia.
Everyday plane-loads of foreign sex predators arrive at Phnom Penh, where they'd fan out across Cambodia to take advantage of Cambodia's poverty.
I lived two years in Phnom Penh and I cannot admit what has been said in the previous post. This is really a cliché.Obviously the western sex tourists are not the main issue in the prostituion industry of cambodia. Mistreatments and beatings and gang rapes as testified in the video above are common and are committed by cambodians. Once again like in Thailand the sex industry here relies on locals mainly and also chinese and they happen with brothel girls.
Sex tourist don't go to brothels. they deal with independant prostitutes.
I was very sad that even such a wise guy like Ritthy Phan who recently shot an excellent documentary about prostitutes in PP also accused western sex tourist in a recent interview on RFI radio. This is obviously not the cause of the situation. By the way the main western "market' for prostitutes in Cambodia are not the sex tourists but the expats that live here.
I don't want to devlopp this issue further because there is too much to say and this is not the place for that. Just keep in mind that the reality is far more complex than the unresponsable statement above.
