During the 70's some 1 million Vietnamese living in Cambodia, most settle under the patronage of the French colonialist, and the majority were clerks, commercialists, and skilled laborers in Phnom Penh. Within all the Vietnamese's they were Vietcong and Vietminh impersonated as Khmer to infiltrate the Cambodian government

Lon Nol ordered his military to set up detention camps for all Vietnamese citizens and hold them as prisoners. During this time the Vietminh sweep through Kompong Chhnang province and bring fighting close to Phnom Penh.

After seeing Vietcong completely occupied the whole Cambodia in general. By doing so the Vietcong help themselves by dragging more B-52's closer to Cambodian town and city and incited hatred within Khmer peasants to hate the Khmer Lon Nollians. This is the flame of war from 1970-1975 because Vietcong had their hands everywhere in Cambodia
