Khemara actively lead 50 other Cambodian Non Governmental organizations in forming public debate on women's issues during the recent national elections of 1993. Khemara lobbied for the inclusion of women's issues in the new constitution and obtained 3 key articles to protect the rights of women.
Khemara is the main convenor and organizer of AMARA, the Cambodian Women's Network for Peace, a movement to empower grass-roots women activity and to provide them with leadership skills.
Khemara has provided technical support to 15 women's NGOs in preparing funding proposals. The main success has been the founding of Khmer Women's Voice Center, Cambodian Women's Media Center and the Cambodian Women's League for Development. These NGOs are considered sister organizations, and together with Khemara, the organizations lobby for legal representation of women by public defenders, for the change of women's image portrayal in the media and for the promotion of national policies for women.
Khemara coordinated Women Weaving the World Together. This is a banner, 5 kilometers long, made of weaving from women all over the world.
