Literacy efforts by Khemara.

Khemara staff trains village volunteers in literacy and numeracy. These volunteers teach women in the village in basic literacy and numeracy. Classes are organized at homes or in community centers for factory workers, small vendors and women farmers. There are about 15 women in each class.

Teenagers and high school graduates are trained as extension workers. Their task is to manage mobile libraries in the village. In the past two years, the program has reached over 200 women.

Photographs will be available after July, 1996.
