The Society of Cambodian Students and Professionals* (SCSP) (Somakum Niseit neng Knaic Joumneagn Khmer*) ================================================================================ There is no doubt that Cambodia will soon have Internet access. In preparation for this occasion I have established The Society of Cambodian Students and Professionals to provide a single contact point for Cambodian students in Cambodia with the outside world. (In the text to follow, the The Society of Cambodian Students and Professionals shall be refered to by the Society.) The Society is a international not-for-profit loose affiliation of students and professionals who share interest in the culture and politics of Cambodia. The purpose of the Society is to provide _one_ identifiable body of these people. Currently there does not exist a body which represents oversea Cambodian students and professionals. SCC is a public forum of discussion accessible by anyone and, therefore, may carry the opinions of anyone. The Society does _not_ claim to own SCC but aspires to have good relationships with participants of SCC and the world community. The Society is intended to promote the visibility of the oversea Cambodian community but does not represent any segment of the oversea Cambodian community. The Society supports reconstruction and democracy in Cambodia. However, The Society is not affiliated wiht any political party nor does it espouses a political ideology. Members of The Society may hold and express any political view they wish but are prohibitted from claiming representation of The Society. The Society welcomes all people of good intention, regardless of nationality, creed, religious or political belief, who are interested in Cambodia and Cambodian related issues. The Society executives are elected to the three-year positions by The Society members. Election process is to be worked out later. Charter for The Society is being drafted. Members are invited to make recommendations. ================================================================================ Charter OF The Society of Cambodian Students and Professionals* =>Rough Draft; send comments/suggestions to rtuok@csi.uottawa.ca or nam@cybercambodia.com<= Purpose: To provide one identifiable body of people interested in Cambodia and Cambodian cultures.
