I don't give sh...t about Funcinpec

On February 1 2005, when I was reading the report from Radio Free Asia in Cambodian, I saw the title that said " Funcinpec Criticized RFA of Being Unethical or immoral in Reporting" (unoffical translated)

Personally, I don't give sh...t about Funcinpec!

However, what concern me is about freedom of expession and democracy. The suppression has been expanded to oversea. Here, Funcinpec tried to control Radio Free Asia and accused RFA of being unfair or unethical broadcasting.

The criticism was regarding the interview of Mr. Chea Poch by RFA which Mr. Chea Poch said that Ranariddh's decision to strip of immunity of member of parliament was in violation of the constitutional which is a supreme law of the land.

I regard that the criticism from Funcinpec was ridiculous in a democratic society. The reaction of Funcinpec toward the interview was clearly shown as a suppress society where people are not allowed to express their fact or opinion to a wrongdoer. I think Funcinpec starts to show their inside out inform of dictatorship like China, Burma or CPP of Cambodia. They are trying to control all forms of media and expression.

Why was the interview of Mr. Chea Poch being unethical? My understanding is that this interview was a live question and answer. When the question was asked, the interviewee had the right to provide fact or opinion of his or her answer, and the interviewer could not just stop the interviewee and directed to say what it should have said.

In contrast, Funcinpec might be used to their accustom where as Funcinpec's society one who can express his or her opinion has to be monitored by the higher official or if the satement is embraced by the higher official, then it is applicable. But this is an America. It is a land of free and democracy. It is American standard, and in my opinion, I didn't think that RFA issued a written statement to assist Chea Poch to answer such a question was asked. I clearly think that it was the opinion or fact which Mr. Chea Poch responsed as his answer.

Further more,I don't understand why Funcinpec want to practise the ideology that caused 1.7 million lives of our Cambodian already. The 1.7 million lives are the result of not allowing people to express their concerns and to correct the problems. The result of suppression and undemocractic. The result was coming from the law which from the mouth of one who has power. Should we experience this again? I say it is enough! One dictator, Hun Sen, is enough. Please!

More over, I want to remind Funcinpec that this kind of news or interview is a live report and the individual opinion or fact is provided based on his or her objection. If Funcinpec dissatisfied with the opinion or the fact of Mr. Chea Poch which provided to the RFA, Funcinpec could request the RFA to interview them in responding to the accusation if there is one.

By the way, I agreed that the article 8O of Cambodian Constitution, which is the supreme law of Cambodia, is prohibited a member of parliament from any prosecution unless it is criminal matter which is concerned. Is defemation a criminal?! I think CPP and Funcinpec should open a debate publicly about this matter of defemation. I personaly hate the law that comes from your mouths.

Finally, I think that RFA had not committed any unethical broadcasting, never the less, it was live broadcasting which made RFA to unable to determine the issue between Norodom Ranariddh and Chea Poch during a live questionair. I am in support of RFA for being unbias. For many year, I have been listening to RFA about our homeland politically and economically. I appreciated the works that they have done. There have been no other news which more liable than RFA beside The Cambodia Daily. Besides, I should urge Funcinpec to do their job by focus their energy to build the country and democracy and apply your 73 points which you promised. I want to see it happen. Stop biting everyone around you. If you made of gold, show it, and we will believe you.
