Sihanouk for Premier in 2008

Now the Cambodia situation is nearly irreversible once again if Mr. Hun Sen and cliques remaining in power much longer. People are fed up with the impossible living standard under governmental rampant corruption. Nonetheless Mr. Hun Sen has given no corner to critics but increased his dictatorial grips to fend off criticism and democratic challenge.

Many speculations are in the making that the CPP is on the brink of division among the communist hardliners and moderate accomplices. The internal bickering flared up between the CPP of Mr. Hun Sen Viet Nam extremity and the Khmer traditional extremity leadership. Many of his CPP fellows voiced out concerns but Hun Sen kept exerting his stand alone authority more obvious than before even in the eyes of his foreign critics. But from times to times Mr. Hun Sen was over confident and sternly threatening to do without the constitutional monarchy which was legally bound by majority vote under the UN watch.

To no surprise, Sihanouk still has effect on people in both spectrums despite his misdeeds toward populace in the past. Less than six months in retirement, the former king has desired to re-emerge to deal with most contested border matters with neighboring countries which highlighted Mr. Hun Sen due failures as Prime Minster.

At age 82 years his avid personality and considerable popularity has not dimmed just yet. His expressed endeavor to bring about change in Cambodia territorial integrity has generated enough attention especially among many who live abroad and many well known scholars that made Mr. Hun Sen very uncomfortable.

Unquestionably many disagreed with Sihanouk personal pitfalls but he still remains popular among people of all walks of life. The world and people were aware of his alleged crimes against humanity as he managed to re- established his doomed kingdom once again with UN endorsement. He is more appealing than all politicians combined including the most provocative Assemblyman Sam Raingsy. Once again it appears he is the only person who can amass all support from both domestic and abroad alike to stabilize Cambodia into the new millennium. Logically former monarch campaign platform could be just the holistic anti-corruption and border dispute which still warrants UN attention. It appears the former monarch may entertain the idea as Mr. Hun Sen keeps alienating more of his own followers that could indeed backfire on his clique.

At the moment people still hang their hope on the former King known passion of intrigue politic which may be the sparkle of another people revolution to remove dictatorship out of Cambodia government once for all before his old age death. With his cognizance former king may just fulfill his own prophecy before his own eyes as the riddle unfolding its meaning the small slender king shall rule the three kingdoms. For the record he had ruled two kingdoms so far therefore the third one may just be another urge of his pronouncement of national drive. Plainly speaking former king has nothing to loose at his dying days as opposed to Mr. Hun Sen who may find himself walking in Sihanouk shoes sooner than the predicament. This time all people will come out to vote in folds as they did in 1993.

Well as the writer said that the retired-King still has the influence on Cambodian. However, the flexibility and the power is not in the retired-King hAnd. It is belong to Hun Sen and his men. Besides, it is not just Hun Sen's men, there are also FUNCI who are the supporter of Hun Sen's government. These FUNCI are always say, for the peace to Cambodian, and we must join Hun Sen. Moreover, the retired King himself promised not to involve in politics, and Hun Sen and Vietnam are keeping an eye on the former king. If Vietnam and Hun Sen keep the former King loose, they are on the dangerous rope. Therefore, I see a very slim chance for the retired King to be a prime minister of Cambodia.
