message: well, let not to forget very quick about the genocide, it was not so long ago. So please pray to those whom had die and for those whom survived. It scars forever!!.. why Cambodia?..the abusedlthe tortured, the murdered, killed, the execution, also forced to work to death by this communist governments; the Communist Khmer Rouge, the Democratic of Kampuchea, the people's republic of Kampuchea had recently changed to the people party, and some of these KHMER ROUGE LEADERS now became SAMDACH- which are the acting kings. I see the United Nations did not do any thing about this. It is unacceptable in my opinion. Some of these Khmer Rouge leaders, now still control the country, and the United Nations is ignorant and disregard the rules of law of Human Rights, which its had adopted to protect the people around the world. Why are not they protect the people of Cambodia? Why did the UN kept Cambodia isolated from the world?.. if it is not so, where were the UN during 1975-1979?.. so what is the purpose of being the UN? (think: Cambodia is not in Eroupe or Africa), is the UN being a racist organization?.( Think:) Is that why the UN treated the people of Cambodia like animals or like the second class of the world? (Think:) Due to these consideration, the UN should handle the Khmer Rouge tribunal, and must find justic for the people of Cambodia, because justice have not been served yet for these matters. Beside, the killing is still going on, and the innocent Cambodians die almost every day. They are being neglected by the governments as well as the United Nations. People live in fear, trapped, and manipulated. They die of malnutritions, starvations, diseases, and aids, etc. Now the killers is topple the country, that is why Cambodians people dare not to speak about or express their free speech because of the " IF YOU TALK AGAINST US, YOU'LL DIE " policy. As you can see recently. These evidences showed very clear to the world. That is why i feel the UN should be held accountable in a major part of the! se matte

The UN should step in and take actions to resolve the country, and bring about the murderers to the international tribunal, it means that the TRIAL SHOULD BE OUTSIDE CAMBODIA, so that the innocent Cambodians who have lost their lives would have the benefit of a fair trial.

I am sympathy with your frustration, however; UN is not the police of the world yet, for one thing, and second thing is United Nation needs money to the expenses while providing services. The third thing is that United Nation respect the sovereignty of a nation, and the United Nation needs to negogiate with the host country any action is taken, and the most of all, United Nation need to go through a big fat bureaucracy.
You are right about part of the world that United Nation is interested that because the United Nation consists of a very big bureaucracy. Guess what are the most representative in the bureaucractization coming from? If your answere is European and Noth American, that is very correct. My hint is people care and concern mostly who they are.
In term of money, which countries are willing to support for the cost of the United Nation operation expenses?
Once again, the supper power countries are in Europe and North America, and they have the big bug, and these countries will spend the money if their interest is benefited.
Therefore, don't expect too much from others rather than yourself. To re-build, Cambodian need to be re-united socially and politically. We the Cambodian might have to forget some of the past and move on. The only thing we be caution of is to prevent the past from happen again. Remember, Khmer Rouge regime was the revenge of classes and intellectuals, therefore, Cambodian must understand and respect human rights and democracy. We must rebuild Cambodia, and to re-building Cambodia all sides of Cambodian in Cambodia and abroad must unite together.
I agree with Charle Ray the former embassador of United States to Cambodia that Cambodia abroad can help to re-build Cambodia.
The results of us abroad that help the people in Cambodia are not only the people getting better health and better fed but their mentality also improving. They can see that we are the true democracy people. We treat them right and respect them. We win their heart!!
How many African countries that African America helped rebuild? I supposed he knows since he is one of the African roots too.
In my opinion, Charle Ray suggestion to our Cambodian Community abroad is very reasonable. If we want to help our Cambodian back home, we should be acting in our generousity.
When the anonymous asked, "how many African countries that African American helped rebuild?" Well, to tell you the true, I don't know how to answere your question on behalf of Charle Ray because I don't know how African American feels about their root, and don't know what kind of African American Community that they are living in. There could be political and mentality have been involved. However, when the anonymous aked this question, it is a very good question to remind ourself as a Cambodian American abroad whether we should feel and do the same thing as African American or we look at a positive way and start our generousity now so that we are the Cambodian American are different from African American.
Moreover, Charle Ray's idea is very helpful to the poorest Cambodian in Cambodia if we are at abroad can effort at the most 50 cent per week or per month, I know it will be the most help ever to relief. I know you and me feel the same way toward our Cambodian back home. I think Cambodian in Cambodia want to be fed rather than .....
On that note,if we can see receipts or proofs that the Honorable Ray,Charles had done for Africans in USA or in Africa.
As humanitarian nation Embassador Mr.Ray should be more broadened instead of laying burden on poor refugees responsibility to rebuild Cambodia.US involved in Cambodia either way Khmer Republic and Democratic Republic Kambuja infamously known as DK.US has a moral responsibility toward Cambodia suffering and what Mr.Ray did to relieve it?I guessed not much.Any way humanotarian act has no color (red or blue or black)as Mr.Ray should see.Well I and most did send fund to help out friends,families and communities right ahead of Mr.Ray embassadorship.Please figure it out

Pardon me if I sound pessimistic about Khemer people abroad to help rebuild Cambodia. If somebody have any information on how many people from abroad sitting on Cambodia ministrial positions/lawmakers? Perhaps intelligence alone is not sufficient but the way first to go is to have strong moral judgment for not falling into trap of power and money.

Just curious.. what is the UN anyway?..can any body clearify to dr. klurng meong about the UN position and their job? I thought the UN's job is to resolve world conflicts and help finance the poor countries.. is it? if so, why Dr. klurng meong seem so scare about the UN that it will not help khmer, or khmer have to cry for help. I am currently researching for a paper I have to write about Cambodia & human rights. I have read your comments/ your argument. @vongkotburei: I think you expect to much of the United Nations. It is just an organization which is dependent on the good will and money of it's most powerful member states. It doesn't even have a real army. The member states "sponsor" for an intervention army forces. Still, the U.N. is not a military organization. Its forces should only help keeping the peace & not getting involved in a war. The UN has to respect international law what states the souvereignity of a country. And the 2 Billion dollars...well, think about it. It's absolutely stupid to throw 2 Billion Dollars out of the window to feed people. That wouldn't change anything in a long time period. UN money is needed to start projects to rebuild the country (beside other things). And that is actually the task of the Cambodians to do so. They are provided with the basics and then they just have to do the rest by themselves. Or would you rather prefer to have foreigners in your country regulating everything?
